EFA Youth Development Jumping Squad selection series

Olivia Hamood and Randlab Nero

Olivia Hamood, Randlab Nero

As part of the selection process for the National Youth Development Squad a two competition selection series was conducted in each State between 01 July and 20 December 2008.  The riders have been ranked according to their performance and the leading twelve riders are listed below.

In principle, the National Young Rider Jumping Squad will comprise up to 20 riders; however, this may vary from time to time. The squad will be selected based on general and competition criteria as below.

It is intended the selection of the Squad will comprise of:

1          The current Australian Young Rider Champion

2          Eligible Young Riders selected on the National Senior Squad

3          Up to 12 riders selected under the Competition Criteria

4          6 riders selected under the General Criteria (see below).

General Criteria

Given that at any stage of the competition criteria riders may for any reason not be able to participate, each State may nominate an additional rider for consideration by the National Jumping Selection Panel.

It is intended that the respective State Jumping Selection Panels will nominate an eligible rider it considers a worthy member of the Squad.

Members of this squad are, in principle, talented individuals who are identified as riders who produce consistent levels of performance and achievements in Jumping classes of 1.30m and better.  The development of these riders will ensure they are able to move to senior competition with a professional and guided background.

In total 112 riders took part in the selection competitions.

The squad will be announced on the 26 January 2009

Qld Grand Prix Horse of the Year Leaderboard as at 28/07/08 Updated by S Smith

30/07/08
Two weeks ago saw both Round 5 and Round 6 of the Qld Grand Prix Horse of the Year Series held. Round 5 was the Qld Country A & B Championships at Cairns Show.

The winner was Robert Goodwin of Warwick on Early Times. This puts them into the runner up position for the Newcomer Division which is still lead by Billy Raymont’s Stardom. Round 6 was the Gatton Show Grand Prix which was won by local rider Clem Smith & Dark Ages. In second place was Randlab Caponne ridden by Paula Hamood of Kilcoy making a great return to the showjumping arena after having her fourth child.

Dark Ages and Farmer Jacob now share the lead in the Horse of the Year Series. This week will see the Queensland’s FEI World Cup Rounds being run at Toowoomba, the Ekka and then onto Caboolture.

PRESS RELEASE - Friday program CANCELLED!

The prizemoney has been pooled into the two remaining classes for each section.  The State Champion will still be decided from the results from both classes.

AUSTRALIA AGAINST THE USA, WITH A TOUCH OF MONEGASQUE PRESENCE

IT WAS AUSTRALIA AGAINST THE USA, WITH A TOUCH OF MONEGASQUE PRESENCE

27 June 2008

Edwina Monaco 08.jpg

Edwina Alexander (AUS) and Isovlas Socrates

Guiseppe Rolli fell off his horse, Christina Liebherr’s horse went through the jump and Jean-Marc

Nicolas was eliminated, but other than that, it was just a tough course.

Again with long lines and sharp turns, Olaf Petersen wanted to get the best from the riders as a

test for the Grand Prix on Saturday.

Even the winner of the second class yesterday, Bernardo Alves (BRA), had to retire. He and his

horse Chupa Chup showed they were in Olympic form, but did not have their way.

Of the 32 starters in the second class today, it was Sheikh Ali Al Thani that had the most penalty

points. With 22 penalties on his résumé, he finished last. Again 11 combinations started in the

jump-off, which was full of riders that knew how to ride! Gerco Schröder (NED), Ludo

Philippaerts (BEL), Robert Whitaker (GBR), all of them had made it into the jump-off, but only

Edwina Alexander was fastest. Australia had beaten Beezie Madden with Onlight (Calando x

Landgraf), who represented the USA.

Winning €6.250, Edwina Alexander was very happy to go into the arena again, especially after

her second place in Cannes (although that was with Itôt du Château), she was happy to show the

form she and her horse Isovlas Socrates are in.  for more click here
